S P FRUITS AND VEGETABLES EXPORT
SP Fruits and Vegetables Export commenced operations on 12th of September 2017. Before entering this business, owner Sagar Patil was working with renowned MNC (Multi National Company) Bosch since more than 7 years. At Bosch, he developed expertise on Customer Logistics and Planning (CLP) in the Procurement division. It was during his tenure at Bosch that he had an idea to start the fruits and vegetables business. This was further bolstered by the fact that he has his own farmland in Nashik.
On the farmland, a vast variety of vegetables such as chillies, tomatoes and drumsticks, grains such as rice, wheat, bajra, corn, soybean and other produce such as sugarcane, onions, pomegranate, grapes etc. are being grown. Over the years, Sagar was only looking at growing the above and sending them to the middle man, but now he wants to not just grow the above, but also sell them directly in the main market, instead of getting them sold through a marketeer earlier.
Eliminating the marketeer would need to greater control on quality of fruits and vegetables, as well as prices. Consumers will no longer have to pay astronomical prices for essential farm produce. And when India is already ranked as the second largest producer of fruits and vegetables in the world, there is no reason why the above should take place.
If one takes the example of grapes, they typically need a dry and hot climate, well-irrigated soil and a lot of irrigation water. SP Fruits and Vegetables Export exists in Maharashtra, the state that completely dominates grape production on a commercial basis in the country. At one time, the Indian grape season only fell between the Chilean and Mexican seasons, but today they are available at the Chilean time and can be bought till Egyptian ends. With the help of state-of-the-art technology, we hope to enter the European markets in the future.
Organic farming
A holistic farming system that constantly replenishes soil with organic wastes (animal, farm and aquatic wastes) and cultivates crops is organic farming- a method that has become extremely popular today. Due to the drop in natural resources over years, such a sustainable model of farming is most suitable in today’s times. We are happy to state that we are also looking to expand into organic farming shortly.
At SP Fruits and Vegetables, we understand that there is tremendous scope for the above method, considering the needs of a burgeoning population. At a time when everyone is looking to eat healthy foods, there is an increasing consciousness to consume food products that are not grown by using chemical fertilizers. In the long term, organic farming also brings down costs since it gets rid of synthetic fertilizers that would otherwise be used. The quality of produce in this method is also of better quality in comparison to conventional farming methods.
Investment in storage units
Though India as a country does manage to produce surplus fruits and vegetables every year, it is shocking to see the amount of wastage that takes place. Out of a total output that includes vegetables, fruits and milk, about $440 billion is wasted, as per a study in 2017. Most of this is due to lack of suitable cold storage facilities. At SP, we will ensure that such problems are never encountered.
Before expanding the production line, we have invested in the best storage facilities so that the end consumer gets only the freshest produce. Care is taken during three stages of handling food, namely collection, storage and transportation. Since we are looking at inclusive growth for ourselves as well as associated farmers, our model will be able to help one and all.
A look at the export market
The company aims to export its farm produce to the international market over a suitable period of time. Some of the major markets being looked at are Sri Lanka, UAE, Netherland, Bangladesh, Nepal, UK, other parts of Europe, Qatar and Saudi Arabia. In order to materialize this as well as to enhance quality in India, a lot of R&D is being conducted by the company’s researchers. What local farmers need to know and feel safe about is that SP Fruits and Vegetables will keep them together for being able to export on a collective basis, and not grow independently. We believe in “Humara growth, hum sabka growth” (I grow, we grow and all of us grow).
At SP Fruits and Vegetables, we realize how agriculture still provides livelihoods for 65% of the country. It is virtually the backbone of India’s economy. Therefore, if entrepreneurs are investing in the manufacturing sector, it is important that some of them contribute to the agricultural sector as well.
Vision
To facilitate the sale of good quality fruits and vegetables to the market at a good price. We understand that India is a very price-sensitive market, and so the above balance is absolutely vital.

To be able to focus on export of fruits and vegetables with the combination of best price and services for any person who engages with the company. Quality and price are the two pillars on the basis of which our operations take place.
